A or O negative blood urgently needed for man at Vachira Hospital Phuket.
Vachira Phuket Hospital requires donations of A-negative or O-negative blood to save the life of a 35-year-old Canadian motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a collision with a 10-wheel truck in Phuket.
Ampai Saengwichitr, a medical technician at Vachira Phuket Hospital told The Phuket News today (May 6), “Mr David Lee (Connelly) was admitted to Vachira Phuket Hospital early yesterday morning with serious injuries to his chest, back, and legs. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit and is in urgent need of blood donations.
“We gave Mr Lee (Connelly) four units of blood yesterday but we need more as we need to perform further surgery. Anyone wishing to donate blood can do so at the blood bank on the fourth floor of Vachira Phuket Hospital,” she said.
Donations can be made at Vachira Phuket Hospital Monday-Friday, 8:30am-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am-3pm. However, it should be noted that any person intent on donating blood must ensure they are fit and have food in their system before doing so.
Family of Canadian man repeats urgent call for blood donations
David Connelly, 41, remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Bangkok Hospital Phuket after he was seriously injured in a collision with a 10-wheeled truck in Patong at 8:30pm last Wednesday (May 4).
His family made an urgent plea for donations of Type A Rh-negative and Type O Rh-negative blood on Thursday.
“He is now conscious but doctors cannot operate because they are waiting for the necessary blood stock,” a family member told The Phuket News this morning (May 9).
“His internal organs, including his lungs and kidneys, have suffered serious damage. Also, his shoulder and pelvis are shattered.”
Donors are urged to make their donations at the Phuket Regional Blood Centre, or at the Blood Bank at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
To make sure donations are dedicated to Mr Connelly, specify the donations are for patient code HN05-16-016358 at Bangkok Hospital.
The Regional Blood Centre is located next to the Phuket Provincial Employment Office near Saphan Hin (see map), or call 076-251178 or the centre’s hotline 1285 for more information.
As today is a public holiday (Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day), the blood centre is open from 9am to 3pm today.
The centre’s regular hours are from 8:30am to 4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 8:30am to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the centre is open from 9am-3pm.
The Blood Bank at Vachira Hospital (Tel: 076-361234), located on Yaowarat Rd in Phuket Town, operates the same regular hours.
Dear friends...please share this post! My little brother, David Connelly, was in serious accident in Phuket, Thailand two days ago! He is in desperate need of A RH negative or O RH negative blood! It is very rare blood type in Thailand and the hospital doesn't have the amount required if/when he needs surgery. There are ongoing medical complications and he is in critical condition.
People can donate at any Red Cross in Thailand and specify that it is for Mr. David Connelly at Bangkok hospital in Phuket. But you must be in Thailand to donate!
Please share this post with anyone that might be or know people in Thailand! Prayers sent his way will also help him! I love you David
And thank-you to all the people there who are supporting and caring for him!
