Frenchman found dead with stab wounds on Koh Samui.

A 44-year-old Frenchman was found dead with stab wounds to the neck and the face floating near a waterfall on Koh Samui this morning.

UPDATE: French restaurant owner arrested for murder of fellow Frenchman in Samui.


Arrested on Friday afternoon was Jean Paul Celine (name transliterated from Thai), 43, a restaurant owner on the holiday island. 

The body was found at Panrua waterfall in tambon Mae Nam in Koh Samui district, said Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen, Deputy Spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office. Its discovery was reported to Koh Samui police around 9:30am today.

Police called to the scene reported the dead man had head injuries, probably from being hit with a hard object, and stab wounds to the neck, right check and the middle of his forehead.


His body was sent to Surat Thani Hospital’s forensic institute for a post-mortem examination.

Col Kritsana said investigators had examined footage from surveillance cameras in nearby areas and questioned people who knew the victim. They had obtained some clues and were gathering further evidence, the deputy spokesman said.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.



The French owner of a restaurant in Koh Samui has been arrested for the murder of a businessman.


The body of the victim [name withheld] was found at the Tan Rua waterfall.

The victim was shot dead before being dumped in a stream about 2km from Tarzan waterfall in tambon Mae Nam of Koh Samui district.

Three men are believed involved in his his death. Two men have fled.

Two other men named only as Yves and George are wanted.

The murder relates to a business conflict over the sale of another restaurant. 

It was originally to be handled by the deceased but after one of the wanted men got involved in the sale an argument ensued that resulted in the murder of the victim.

Those responsible believed they could toss the body at the falls and make it look like drowning, said police.

Samui police chief Phaitoon Krajajang led the arrest on Thursday afternoon of the Frenchman.
